Mr. Muhammad Irfan Elahi

Federal Secretary Aviation Division & Chairman PIACL

Sqn. Ldr (Retd) Muhammad Irfan Elahi is Federal Secretary Aviation Division and an elected Director. Mr. Elahi holds Masters Degree in Public Administration and is a Law Graduate from Punjab University. He began his illustrious career by joining Pakistan Air Force as a fighter pilot in 1978. He joined Civil Service of Pakistan in 1991 and served at different positions in Balochistan and Punjab. Starting as Assistant Commissioner Chaman and Quetta, he remained posted as Deputy Commissioner Pishin, Political Agent of Chagai and Killa Saifullah. He has served as Deputy Commissioner Sialkot, DCO Rawalpindi, Director General Relief Department Punjab, Secretary of Food, Irrigation and Livestock & Dairy Development Departments of Punjab. His last assignment was Chairman Planning & Development Punjab. In November 2015 he took over as Incharge Aviation Division. Possessing a wealth of experience in Administration, Change Management, Human Resource Management and Development Planning, he is also Chairman of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and PIA Investments Limited. Mr. Elahi is Member of PIACL Board’s HR, Procurement, and CO Committees.


Mr. Atif Aslam Bajwa

Mr. Atif Aslam Bajwa is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. Mr. Bajwa is a graduate from Columbia University, New York, USA. He is a seasoned banker and has over 30 years of diverse national and international banking experience. He started his career in 1982 with Citibank, Karachi, and worked on various senior level positions. Mr. Bajwa has worked for ABN AMRO Bank in Pakistan, Singapore and Amsterdam. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of MCB Bank Limited, Soneri Bank Limited as well as Bank Alfalah Limited. He has also served as President of Abu Dhabi Group. He has previously served PIACL as one of its First Directors. Mr. Bajwa is on the Board of PIA Investments Limited. He is Chairman of PIACL Board’s Audit Committee & Member of RM Committee.


Mr. Ali Suleman Habib

Mr. Ali Suleman Habib is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He holds Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He has attended PMD Program at Harvard University. He is Founding Chairman of Pakistan Automotive Manufactures’ Association (PAMA) established in 1995 and the Founding Chairman of Young Presidents Organization, Pakistan Chapter. Mr. Habib is on the Board of Pakistan Business Council and recently remained its Chairperson. He heads and oversees operations of the House of Habib (HoH). He is Chairman of Indus Motor Company Limited since its inception in 1989. Mr. Habib devotes his time and attention to social welfare, education and benevolent activities and is a Trustee on the Boards of Habib University Foundation, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, Habib Education Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program. He is also actively involved in setting up of Habib University which aims to offer world class academic programs in liberal arts and sciences. Mr Habib is Member of PIACL Board’s Procurement Committee.


Ms. Faryal Jooma

Ms. Faryal Jooma is a nominated Director since June 07, 2017. She holds a Masters Degree in Law from Northwestern University School of Law, USA and also has a Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Karachi. Ms. Jooma is an Advocate of the High Court and an Attorney admitted to practice in the State of New York. She is currently Owner at Jooma Law Associates. Earlier, she was Partner at Jooma & Soomro, Karachi and prior to that was Senior Associate at Orr, Dignam & Co. and Kabraji and Talibuddin, Karachi and an Associate at Rizvi, Isa & Co, Karachi (now RIAA Barker Gillette). Ms Jooma is a member of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and is presently serving on the Board of IGI Insurance Company Limited. She is Member of PIACL Board’s Audit, and RM Committees.


Mr. Adnan Ahmed Khan

Mr. Adnan Ahmed Khan is a nominated Director since June 07, 2017. He has engineering and business education from USA. Mr. Khan joined Naubahar Bottling Co. (Pvt) Limited as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director in 2001. Under his leadership, using latest management techniques and strategic initiatives, enabled by technology, the company has achieved various sales and quality milestones. Mr. Khan is currently serving on Boards of The Thal Industries Corporation Limited, Lahore; Al-Moiz Industries Limited, Lahore; and Punjab Social Security Health Management Company, Lahore. He is trustee on the Board of Roshni Homes, Gujranwala. Mr. Khan is Member of PIACL Board’s Audit, Procurement and CO Committees.


Mr. Arif Ahmed Khan

Federal Secretary Economic Affairs

Mr. Arif Ahmed Khan is Federal Secretary Economic Affairs Division and a nominated Director since September 19, 2017. He holds Masters degree in Public Policy from Concordia University, Canada. A career civil servant with 34 years of experience in Public Administration, he has served the federal and provincial governments in important positions. Mr. Khan has served as Federal Secretary, Water Resources, Federal Secretary Interior and Federal Secretary, Climate Change. He has also served as Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh where his responsibilities included approval and overall implementation of the Annual Development Program of the Province. He was also responsible to coordinate planning and development activities of various departments of Provincial Government. Mr. Khan had the opportunity of serving as Consul General and Trade Commissioner of Pakistan in Montreal, Canada and the Programme Coordinator of International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva. He remained Director General for the Export Promotion Bureau (now Trade Development Authority of Pakistan) during 2004-2005. He represented Government on the Board of Directors of the Sindh Bank Limited, the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company Limited, and the Sindh Land Management & Development Company Limited.


Mr. Farrukh H Khan

Mr. Farrukh H Khan is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the UK. He has also done BA (Hons.) in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester. He is Senior Director Business Development of Acumen, and has been a member of Management Committee of the firm. With over 25 years of senior management and Board level experience, Mr. Khan was the Founding Partner and CEO of BMA Capital Management Limited. He has an excellent network and knowledge of business in Middle East and South Asia. He has previously served as President of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Pakistan Chapter; and also served on boards of few other public and private sector organizations. He has worked with American Express Bank in Pakistan and Deloitte in London. He was selected by Euromoney as one of the top 50 global financial leaders, below age of 40 years. His philanthropic interests include children’s health and education. Mr. Farrukh is Member of PIACL Board’s Audit and HR Committees.


Mr. Tariq Kirmani

Mr. Tariq Kirmani is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He holds Masters Degree in Business Administration. He started his career with a multinational oil company (Caltex – later Chevron Pakistan) in 1969. He worked for 7 years in the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia in senior management positions in Marketing, Operations and Finance. In 1991, Mr. Kirmani became the first Pakistani to be elected as a Director of the company. In April 1999, he joined Pakistan State Oil (PSO) as Deputy Managing Director and went on to become the Managing Director in July 2001. The Government of Pakistan (GoP) appointed Mr. Kirmani as Chairman & CEO, Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) in April 2005 where he served for 2 years. Mr. Kirmani has previously served on a number of Boards of multinational and public sector companies which included Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), Pakistan State Cement Corporation (PSCC), Pakistan Telecommunications Limited (PTCL), Pakistan Private Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Board of Governors LUMS and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Currently, he is serving as Chairman of United Bank Limited Fund Managers, National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) and Punjab Energy Holding Company (Pvt.) Ltd. (PEHCL). He is also serving as a Director on the Board of Professional Education Foundation (PEF), Family Education Services Foundation (FESF) and serving as an Advisor to the Board of Gas & Oil Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (GO). Mr. Kirmani is Member of PIACL Board’s Audit, HR and CO Committees.


Mr. Shahid Mahmood

Federal Secretary Finance

Mr. Shahid Mahmood is Federal Secretary Finance and a nominated Director since June 19, 2017. He holds Masters degree in English Literature from Government College, Lahore, and Bachelors degree in Economics & Statistics from the same institution.  He has attended IMF Course on ‘Financial Programming and Policy’ held at IMF Institute, Washington DC, USA and IMF Regional Course on “Macro Economic Impact on the Budget” held at LUMS. Mr Mahmood joined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1984 and over the course of his career, has held various Secretariat, Field and Staff assignments. In the Secretariat of Government of Punjab, he held assignments of Secretary Planning & Development, Secretary Mines and Minerals, Secretary Tourism & Resort Development, and Special Secretary, Finance Department. He has held field assignments including Deputy Commissioner, Sialkot and Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Director General, Lahore Development Authority and Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Pakistan, Beijing, China. The Staff jobs held by him include: Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Punjab, Additional Secretary (External Finance) / Special Assistant to Finance Minister, Government of Pakistan. He was Special Secretary Finance Division before assuming responsibilities as Secretary to the Government of Pakistan, Finance Division, Islamabad. His work experience with International Agencies includes: Senior Advisor to the Executive Director in the International Monetary Fund, Washington DC, representing Pakistan on the IMF Executive Board and Chief Negotiator for Pakistan in the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). He is Member of PIACL Board’s RM Committee.


Mr. Navaid H Malik

Mr. Navaid H. Malik is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He had obtained his Bachelors Degree from FC College, Lahore and did varied courses in Hotel Management and Aviation Management from USA. Mr. Malik has an extensive Senior Management experience in airline catering and hospitality industry. He remained President of renowned Maxim’s de Paris of France. He has a vast experience in airline industry with PanAm, Air Malta, Caledonian Airlines, Emirates Airlines and Singapore International Airlines (SIA) where he has also served on the Board. He also served as nominee Director SIA holding company. He is the Principal Advisor to one of the largest investment and asset management companies in the Middle East. Mr. Malik has been Adviser on Tourism to Government of Pakistan. He is on the Advisory Committee of International Hotel Association (IHA); as well as International Associate of American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA). He has served as a Council Member of World Tourism Organization (WTO); Committee Member of International Hospitality and Leisure Association (IHLA). He keenly takes part in communal and philanthropic activities. Mr. Malik is Member of PIACL Board’s RM, HR and CO Committees.


Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba

Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He is Chief Executive of Lucky Cement Limited. He also serves as CEO of Yunus Textile Mills Ltd (YTM) and is Vice Chairman of board of ICI Pakistan Limited. He started his career with YBG, one of the premier business houses in Pakistan with diversified in Cement, Chemicals, Energy, Textile and Real Estate Development. Mr Tabba also serves on the Board of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). He is a Trustee of Fellowship Fund for Pakistan (FFFP). He is on the Board of Pakistan Business Council (PBC), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as well as Pakistan-India Joint Business Council (PIJBC). He has also served as Chairman of All Pakistan Cement Manufacturing Association (APCMA). He is Vice Chairman of Aziz Tabba Foundation which runs Tabba Heart Institute (THI) as well as Tabba Kidney Institute (TKI). World Economic Forum (WEF) bestowed upon Mr. Tabba the title of ‘Young Global Leader’ in 2010. He is also a recipient of ‘Businessman of the Year’ gold medal award for 2012-2013 from Karachi Chamber of Commerce. He is Member of PIACL Board’s Procurement Committee.
